Knights Welcome Carney and "Reg Reagan" to the Big Apple!

The New York Knights were recently treated to a visit from two former Newcastle Knights stars, former winger Brian Carney and former 5/8 and media personality "Reg Reagan" Matt Johns. Both Carney and Johns stopped by the local New York Knights hangout, the Ship of Fools to spend time with the New York players while on vacation in New York City. "We love New York and the Knights are a great bunch of blokes" said Johns who was out that evening without his alter-ego "Reg Reagan". "We have been following what you have been doing over here in America and are supportive of your efforts" Johns went on. Carney, the cousin of New York Knight center Shane O'Driscoll, was impressed with the number of people he ran into in NYC that knew about the game of Rugby League. "I hope that the game continues to grow for you here in the States!" said Carney.

Knights CEO Robert Balachandran was on hand that evening and addressed the packed bar "We are honored to have two Newcastle greats here in Manhattan. Brian and Matt's presence is yet another testament about the close connection that we share with our sister club in Newcastle and with Rugby League players and supporters from around the world!"

The pair signed autographs and gave advice to players and fans throughout the evening. One Knights player had a different view of the evening; when asked what did he think about having the two Knights greats here in NYC, big New York Knights prop Hayden "TLG" James commented in his patented West Indian accent"...hey mon, they look much bigger on TV!"
