Lead by the efforts of young prop Sean Taylor and center Ji-Hwan You, the New York Knights pulled of a gutsy 34-22 victory over a very competitive Philly Fight team in an entertaining encounter at A. A. Garthwaite Stadium in Philadelphia on Saturday night. In a battle between two top teams in the AMNRL, the Knights produced a spirited display both in defense and attack to hand the Fight their third defeat this season. .

The game started out well for the Knights with tries from center Leo Reynolds (2) and Prop Will Brazier to put the Knights in front early in the first half . The Fight as their name implied fought back in the ending minutes of the half after several handling errors by the Knights. At the half, the Knights found themselves in the unenviable position of going to the sheds with a22-16 to the home team.

In the second half the Knights "muscled up" on both defense, stopping the scoring onslaught that took place in the first half and scored several tries which lead to their victory. Xavier Lozinguez was first to score for the Knights that second half, and a crucial 5th try was later added by Sean Taylor which gave the Knights a 22-28 lead. Despite another last minute flurry by the hosts, Knights halfback Luke Hume ended the Fights chances of a win with a 60 meter solo effort with just minutes left to go in the game.

"We got off to a good physical start but a few handling mistakes invited them back in the game" said Knights Coach Guill Cieutat after the game. "...Overall our defensive effort was good although we lacked intensity and speed at times, but this is the kind of win that we can build on" Guill he concluded.

The Knights will have a bye next this week and will travel to play the Bucks County Sharks at the annual War at Shore on August 1st.
