Knights Face Jacksonville In Grand Finals!
August 25, 2009

The New York Knights will face the Jacksonville Axemen in the Grand Finals this Saturday night starting at 7pm at "The Castle" in New York. This will be first appearance for the Knights on the center stage since 2002 when they beat the Glen Mills Bulls for the title. This will also be the first time the Grand Finals will be played in New York.

"We are extremely proud to host the grand finals here in Manhattan; and are even happier that the Knights will be playing in it!" said Knights CEO Robert Balachandran.

The Axemen, who are making their first trip to the Grand Finals after defeating the Boston 13's last weekend, are picked as the early favorites for the game after finishing the regular season undefeated. The last time the two teams meet the Axemen beat the Knights 28-18 in Jacksonville.

Knights Head Coach Guill Cieutat had this to say about his opponent, "...the Axemen are a very good team; they out played us in Jacksonville and went undefeated this season." When asked how he felt about the Knights being the underdog for this weekends championship game, Cieutat was comfortable with the position. "We know that we need to work hard to beat them. Last time we underestimated them; this will not happen again!"

The American National Rugby League is expecting a big crowd with the game being hosted in New York City. "With the Castle situated right in the heart of Manhattan, we are pulling off what other sports have only dreamed about...playing their championship game on Manhattan!"
