New York Beat Warriors Again! 2006-08-04
In a highly physical and bruising playoff game at The Castle the New York Knights downed the New Haven Warroirs 28-24. The match see-sawed right up to the final whistle, with the Knights now earning the right to play Connecticut in the semi final to see who will play in the Grand Final.
The warriors got off to a quick start with a try in the opening minutes with New York again showing their tendancy for slow starts. This trend will have to be stopped if they want to advance to the big dance against better teams. Once the Knights found their rythym they where able to play the better football, but there was some questionable play being tolerated by the referee, with the Warriors unsettling the Knights.
In the second half, wit the game in on the line New York made some courageous tackles defending their line. However they did allow a Warriors try with 15 minutes to go and New Haven found the lead. Through some smart play by Adam Nable and Rob Balachandran the Knights regained a two point lead. Nable then kicked a penalty goal with one minute remaining, the final score being 28-24 to the New York Knights.
Best for New York where Ryan Mulligan, Ian Blake and Joe Hughes in the fowards whilst the old men of the backline Adam Nable and Rob Balachandran again where the pick of the backs.
