Knights Cruise to Victory against Raiders 56-4
June 2, 2007

The New York Knights opened their 2007 season with a big win against the New Paltz Raiders this past weekend at the Castle in New York! With the exception of a brief defensive lapse in the second half which allowed the Raiders their only score, the Knights dominated the game both offensively and defensively.

With over 11 different Knights players finding the try line that evening, the highlight was the two trys scored by 43 year old rookie center Kirk Miller. "I just saw a gap both times and hit the hole!" proclaimed Miller. While the Knights had an evening with very little mistakes center Danny McDermott's performance stood out above the rest. McDermott a reserve player last year, has improved his ball handling skills and foot work over the off season enough to earn him a starting role. Also playing well were new Lock Jason Best and 5/8 Danny Kaye.

"I was very pleased with the style of play that we had tonight." said Head Coach Guill Cieutat. "The team worked hard throughout the game and played with confidence and discipline." Cieutat has been working with the team during the pre-season months to create a style of play that is both exciting for the players (and to watch), but is based on discipline and patience. "Any team can throw the ball around, but the team that can do it in a disciplined way will be the one that walks off the field a winner."

The Knights are preparing all this week for their away game this Saturday evening against the New Haven Warriors.
