Australian captian Andrew Johns donned the stars and stripes yesterday when members of the New York Knights joined their Novacastrian counterparts at traning.
New York captain-coach Matt Astill, an expat Australian now based in the "Big Apple", presented Johns with some of the American team's training gear and was a keen observer as Newcastle coach put his Knights through their paces.
The New York Knights are the reigning American NRL champions and dominate the USA Tomahawks natinal squad currently touring Australia.

Robert Balachandran is tour captain of the Tomahawks, and he and Astill are joined by fellow New Yorkers Christian Rahui, Danny Bull, Mike Mulvihill and Nigel Dacre.
Winger Greg Smith, who made one unforgettably forgettable NRL appearance for the Newcastle Knights in 1999, is also in the Tomahawks squad.
The Tomahawks are playing in today's World Sevens qualifying tournament.
They will play 13-on-13 exhibition games against the Australian Police, Newtown, Parramattas Premier League'side and a Dragons all-star squad within the next fortnight.
